Envision a safe, walkable, neighborhood commercial corridor on East 16th Street
In 2004 community groups created a vision for enhancing a 1.4 mile stretch of East 16th Street’s infrastructure.
Nothing happened. Now is the time.
Help us (re)Vision16.
Goal: to build a collaborative new vision of 16th Street to rally stakeholders and municipal actors to create a safe, walkable, thriving corridor where neighbors seek to be, and visitors seek to return.
Now (2026), before the conversion of N. Delaware and N. Pennsylvania Streets, it is time to revise, and implement a new upgraded vision, informed by the new Complete Streets and Vision Zero Ordinances.
We are connecting with neighbors, businesses, local organizations, stakeholders, city leaders, and the City of Indianapolis to share our (re)Vision for 16th Street. Our focus is East 16th Street from Meridian St. east to Roosevelt Ave. We also intend to link our efforts to blend seamlessly into, accommodate, and support new roadway infrastructure investment west of Meridian Street as IU Health and the Indy Health District progress.
How can you help?
This is a collaborative community-led effort focused on guiding investment into the infrastructure needs of resident neighbors and local businesses. Whether you’re most comfortable contributing time to help achieve our advocacy goals, money to help us expand our influence, or energy to collaborate with our community change agents, we need your help.
“20 years ago was the time to update this corridor, NOW is the next best time.”
— LISC FOCUS Corridor, Advisor Committee Member 2004-2006
